What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an art form created by the Gracie Family who through their commitment to the art helped evolve the art into what it is today. BJJ is truly a martial art for everyone, shown through its history in competition, it is the martial art that allows a much smaller weaker opponent over come a larger opponent in competition, in fight situations with very little rules.
BJJ was globally made famous back in 1993 with the introduction of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, here Royce Gracie used the art to defeat other martial artists in a fight with no time limit and very few rules, since then the UFC became the global leading promotion in the sport of MMA (mixed martial arts), now you will find that all mixed martial artists have extensive training in BJJ. Law enforcement agencies and military across the globe now have programs in brazilian jiu jitsu, including our own Royal Marines.
